The Nap Tent

2331737961 5b9671bc68 300x225 The Nap Tent Sales Law of AttractionI was working an event this weekend, the Organic Brew Fest, for my day job.  I decided to try and make a few bucks on the side.

My kids found this incredible tent at Ikea, it was ten bucks, and it’s shaped like an igloo.  It’s easy to set up and break down, they play in it like its a hamster wheel, and have been in love with the darn thing for three weeks straight.  SO I went back to Ikea and picked up 5 more, set one up next to my booth at the brewfets, and put a sign on it that said

“Nap Tent, Free to Try, $20 to Buy.”

For the first two days there were no bites.  People and kids tried it out plenty, sure, but my pitch was still in development.

It was when I started running out of cash that I started manifesting.

I had been sampling the organic beers all day, and when I ran out of money, I realized I had forgotten to save $20 for my entrance fee into a networking event on Tuesday, something that I really need to go to.  So, I envisioned myself paying the twenty bucks to get into this event, and an hour later, someone came to my booth out of the blue and said, “Is this where we buy the tents?” He shelled out a twenty, and I made a sale.

This was very instructive.  When there was only ninety minutes left of the festival, I decided to focus on what I would do with the reward, instead of vaguely wish I had more spending cash in my wallet.

The T-shirts were eighteen bucks.  Drink tokens were a dollar.  I only wanted another one or two samples, and I decided I wanted a T-shirt.  I visualized myself wearing the shirt proudly, knowing that because I was wearing it, I was a successful manifestor.

This emotion fueled the manifestation.  I went up to a guy with two kids who was looking at the tent, gave him a pitch, and he seemed kind of stupefied as he said, “You know…I will buy that!”

It’s like he had this little voice in his head urging him to do this–it was his instinct, and he chose to follow it.  We’ve all had that instinct before, to do something because its just a clear hunch.

I got to see the genesis of the hunch during this manifestation.  And I like my new t-shirt.

Your Subconscious Bouncer

You can think that magic manifestation is complete hogwash, and yet, the Law of Attraction can still be used to help you manifest your goals. Here’s why:

External vs. Internal manifestation.

There is a process of retraining your brain to be on the lookout for circumstances that match your new paradigm, instead of your old one.  Instead of making this happen outside, you’re changing your perceptions inside.

It all has to do with the bouncer inside your head: RAS.

Dreaming is not manifesting. Desiring something is not enough to bring it about. Why?

When you wish for something in the future your wish keeps it in the future–out of the NOW.

If you are going to manifest your dreams, and make them become reality, then you must BECOME your dreams. Now. Today. This moment. For eternity exists only within the present moment, and if you do not anchor your desires in eternity, in this present moment, then when will they ever come about?

“Someday” is often a codeword for “never.”

Oftentimes, by wanting something, we focus only on the absence of it. It is not enough to recognize a lack in yourself, and wish for it to be fulfilled. By the Law of Attraction, you will be manifesting more lack.

If you want to manifest your desire, you must do more than wish for it. You must BECOME it.

This is the difference between wishing and manifesting: BECOMING. (more…)

Manifest the Reward, and the Sales will Come

Our subconscious mind has peculiar strengths and weaknesses.

The Reticular Activating System is really good at finding ways to manifest tangible things, because it sorts through images and memories of millions of tangible things every day.  One study estimated that the RAS is capable of processing 6,000 bits of information per second! None of these ideas, however, is as intangible as “43 sales” or “$5k in commissions.

Your subconscious mind is really good at manifesting things it can process easily, so let’s make the process easy to manifest the things you want.  Do you really want the money that lots of sales will give you?  Or do you want the things you will buy with that money?  Do you really want to know that you are the top salesman in your company?  Or do you want to see the plaque on your wall?

Make your visualizations centered around one real, concrete image that can be used like a trophy.  If there is a big bonus period ending soon, and you want to meet your quota, define the reward you will give yourself if you meet your goal.  And then, manifest that reward.

Mac Laptop 300x252 Manifest the Reward, and the Sales will Come Sales Law of AttractionI am typing this blog post on my new Macintosh laptop.  I have always wanted one, yet never had occasion to justify the purchase to myself on a whim.  When a big quarterly bonus was coming up in my company, I was having trouble getting my emotions involved in meeting my goal.  So I asked myself: what do I really want out of achieving this goal?  What I really wanted was money, because a few thousand extra dollars sounded really nice to me.

But why?

What, specifically, did I want to use that money for?

I had all sorts of vague responses to this questions: pay off some debt, put a little more in savings, feel more comfortable, etc.etc.  Nothing really tangible for my subconscious mind to sink its teeth into, and get to work on manifesting.

So, I planned out a reward for myself.  I decided that if I qualified for this bonus, I would give myself a new Mac.  I went to the Mac store, browsed the models, and picked out the one I wanted.  I took a picture of it and inserted it into an Excel spreadsheet, with a chart showing a blank line for every sale I needed to make.  I printed it out, put it on my wall, and every time I made a sale, I wrote in the name of the person who bought from me right next to the picture of my new laptop, and I sent up a message of thanks.

I visualized myself typing on the keys of my new laptop.  I listened to the sound of the clackety-clack on the keyboard, the exact sound I am listening to right now.  Do you see?  Because I was able to incorporate details into my visualization, details about my tangible reward, my subconscious mind had something to work with!  I gave it the tools to do what it does best: manifest what I feel emotionally.

This was what put me over the top.  Had I kept my intention to sell insurance policies, or to see the stack of paperwork filled out, it would not have been as visceral an experience to my subconscious mind as the reward that was linked to my goal’s attainment.

What unfulfilled goals do you have out there?  What will you reward yourself with when you attain your goals?  It might be a massage, or a vacation trip, or your favorite bottle of wine.  Tie the reward to the goal, and then manifest the reward, to

trick your subconscious mind into manifesting your goal, too.

Manifesting… Back to the Future

Manifesting is a practice

It takes continual, ongoing effort.  And like any practice – exercise, meditation, prayer, sports – you develop a strength, a flexibility, and an intuition that increases with use.

One of the most effective manifestation exercises I have found in doing this work is reaching Back to the Future.

Manifestation is a unique type of meditation, because it involves something generally left out of deeper forms of meditation: time.  The present, and the future, are integral aspects of manifestation.  I don’t have something now, I want to have something in the future, I create the thoughts and feelings in the present that I expect to have in the future when my manifestation is fulfilled. (Emotion x now) + (Future goal x visualization) = (Manifestation x now).

For all my algebra dorks out there, you can reduce this to

(Future goal x visualization)/now = Manifestation -Emotion,

but that’s not a healthy way to look at it.

Like any epiphany, this started with something joyfully mundane.  Today I lost my keys. (more…)
