The man is a scientist. He has given millions of salespeople the conviction that selling is a science, and like any science, it can be learned.
Tracy is not an enthusiastic motivator like Zig Ziglar, and he doesn’t urge you to break down barriers like Tony Robbins. He gives you specific, step-by-step instructions for prospecting, building relationships, working effectively, planning your time, and closing the sale.
As a craftsman, Brian Tracy is one of the finest sales trainers I have ever come across. He has a calm, no-nonsense attitude towards selling, but he does have a full and comprehensive understanding of the Law of Attraction, and how it applies to salespeople.
He tells a story in this series about a salesperson who took his strange advice to heart. Before going into an appointment, the salesman would sit in his car and repeat, “I like myself. I like myself. I’m a great salesman. I am a GREAT salesman.”
And wouldn’t you know it? His closing ratio doubled.
Tracy never uses the words ‘Law of Attraction,’ but he does talk about framing concepts for your subconscious mind, and visualizing your goals in crystal clarity. He talks about seeing your prospect shaking your hand and signing the order form. He knows that there is more to the science of selling than just Psychology.
